FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can I only pay with cryptocurrency?

Due to the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine, traditional banking transfers between Russia and the European Union are not currently possible. For this reason, all payments on our platform are handled via cryptocurrency. This allows for fast, borderless, and secure transactions between renters and property owners.

Is paying with crypto safe?

Yes. Cryptocurrency is a globally accepted payment method used by millions. We use reliable coins such as USDT (Tether) and Bitcoin. Every transaction is processed through a secure wallet address, and you receive confirmation once payment is completed.

I’ve never used crypto before — how do I pay?

It’s easier than it sounds.

  1. Download a crypto wallet app like Binance, Trust Wallet, or Coinbase
  2. Purchase crypto using your local currency (we recommend USDT for price stability)
  3. On our site, simply scan the QR code during checkout and approve the transaction

Is it legal to rent from a Russian property owner?

Yes. Russian citizens can legally own and rent out property in EU countries, as long as they are not on an official sanctions list. All listings on our platform are owned by verified individuals with documented property rights.

What happens if a property owner is added to a sanctions list?

If a property owner is placed on an EU sanctions list and their assets are frozen, you will still be allowed to remain in the rental property. Your tenancy rights are protected under European law. However, your future rental payments may be redirected to an EU-monitored account or temporarily frozen. In such cases, the EU or local authority may contact you or us directly with further instructions. Either way, you are not at risk of losing access to the property.

Can I get a refund if the room doesn’t match the ad?

Yes. If you booked a viewing and the room is significantly different from what was advertised, you can contact us and we’ll investigate the case. If the complaint is valid, we will refund the €200 viewing fee.

What if I don’t show up to the viewing?

If you miss the appointment without notice, the €200 fee is non-refundable. This is because we work with local partners who schedule and conduct the viewings on your behalf.

Who holds the security deposit?

East West Nest holds the deposit in escrow. At the end of your rental period, one of our EU partners will inspect the room. If everything is in order, your deposit will be returned to your crypto wallet. This process ensures fairness for both renter and property owner.

Do you verify landlords and listings?

Yes. All property owners must provide proof of ownership and ID verification. Listings are manually reviewed before being published.

What if I experience problems after moving in?

If an issue arises, you can contact us and we will assist where possible — either directly or through our local partners. In serious cases, we may help arrange alternative accommodation through our network.
